Shinshu Field's Guardian Sapling

Project for my art media class. It's the Guardian Sapling from Shinshu Field, the first hub of Okami.

Made with oil pastels on white paper

This was quite the feat to make in a week and a half. Sketching the tree out took at least three days, not including the petals. Damn those petals.

Coloring was even harder. The black kept smudging with the lighter colors, and close up the pink is almost purple. Luckily from further away it actually looks pink. I tried going for a water color-y look, but I think the only part I accomplished this was on the tree trunk. I got lazy at the end and just did the sky light blue.
